Travel Prep for a Bug Free Holiday Season

Its officially time for holiday travel season!

With my family split between Canada and the States we are often preparing to hit the sky to spend the season with each other. One of my biggest stress factors is the fear of getting a bug before or during the trip, and not having the energy to enjoy the festivities to their fullest. Over the years I have found out what works best for us (hubs included), and now I would like to share it with you in hopes it helps you stay germ free this year.

5 things I do to stay healthy while traveling (start at least a week prior to your travel)

  1. Bee propolis throat spray: Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, immune boosting, wound healing
  2. Liposomal vitamin C: Supports the immune system, reduces fatigue
  3. Vitamin D/K: Supports immune function, antioxidant, helps with vitamin absorption
  4. Nasal irrigation: Removes irritants and bacteria that could cause sinus infections, colds or flu
  5. Magnesium: Stress reduction, cellular regeneration, better sleep

Twice now while I was about to take off, the plane got grounded on the tarmac. Both times I did not have food with me and found myself after very long delays in a food emergency. I vowed to never be in that position again. To help you out here is my shortlist of travel snacks you will find with me on the plane or in the car.

P.S. I avoid airport food whenever possible due to my food allergies and the risk.

5 Travel Snacks you will find in my bag

  1. Grass Fed Beef Sticks: I enjoy Archer and Teton brands
  2. Mixed Nuts: Healthy fats to keep me satiated
  3. Protein Bar: Yes these are slightly processed but great in a pinch. I like aloha and RX bars
  4. Water: I bring my own insulated bottle and fill it up after security
  5. Protein Snack Box: I usually grab one from Sprouts or in the airport the Starbucks ones come in handy. I also like the idea of their sous-vide egg bites but since I'm allergic to eggs I cant vouch for their taste personally.

Wishing you the Happiest and Healthiest Holiday Season from My Family to Yours.

Alright everybody, it’s summer. It’s over 100° here in Phoenix daily, and it is just too hot to be covering ourselves up. Most of us are finding ways to relieve the heat, like going to the lake, jumping in the pool, or cooling down with some chilled desserts. My question to you is, have you thought about how you’re taking care of your skin during the heat? Since our skin is really exposed in the summer and we’re wearing looser clothing, we often don’t think about other ways to ensure our skin...

So the new Buzz Word that I see popping up in the wellness world is cortisol. So before I get into my take on this, let’s talk about what is cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands, which are located on top of your kidneys. It is often called the "stress hormone" because it helps your body respond to stress. When you encounter a stressful situation, cortisol levels increase, giving you a quick burst of energy and focus. This is part of the body's "fight-or-flight"...

I have always been a fan of a good documentary, specifically regarding health. With the recent publication of Netflix’s documentary, 'Hack your Health: The Secrets of Your Gut,' I was more than excited to see what they had to say. First, I had to create space and time so that I could fully immerse myself in the documentary. One thing I wanted to do for myself is not do any background research prior to watching it so I didn’t come in with a biased opinion. By the end I was left with a pleasant...
